I can keep writing notes of goodbye
I can continually say that I need to take care of myself
And yet, that self never emerges
Then I get mad at myself
I want to cry
I don’t
Or won’t
Instead I hope
For some resolution not coming
And suffer knowingly needlessly
Refusing to learn a thing

But do I deserve what I think I do?
And do you deserve more than you think?
And aren’t you in love? Or is it some kinda scam?

Or is it someone else you love?
when you choose no despite reasons
and can you handle the consequence

When love’s gone, can you let love in?

You stare into a window
see yourself reflected in the shop’s good clothes
and you forget who you are
hand upon hip you sashay
and wiggle your dirty girl hips
no one notices you in NYC
or anywhere else
because you’re not really there
you don’t exist anymore absorbed
by the reflective scratched glass
you’re gone for those few moments
I notice when I bump into you
our eyes meet and it’s over

and the expanse of the earth
compared to the continental divide – I am nothing

I want to share this perfect expression of nature
far from the reaches of office politics
and cellphone towers

A rabbit crosses my path
off to his comfortable hole
I strap my right foot in
and slide back down

I Acid Thou

On mossy red wine brain
shaved into chest hairs
perspiration drips from full
lips painted dark parted
flesh meets flesh meets
tongue image shadows
on walls and rumpled bed
pierce night’s breath with cries
heaving chests
and drying thighs
